What can you expect?
Do want to know the surprising contemporary architectonic hightlights of Antwerp? Join me (Björn) on my tour in the trendy Antwerp's Northern district; a sparkling part of the city.

Most of the tourist guides provide lots of information about the more traditional architecture of Antwerp . Your tour with Björn gives an overview of both national and international architects who have been active in Antwerp, among others Leon Stijnen, Quinz and Milan and Jo Crépain. The route starts in my own loft in the former red light district in Antwerp North with coffee and pastry. I have lived in Antwerp since 2001 and as an architect he can point you to all architectonic details in this neighbourhood. After the familiarisation you will continue the tour in Antwerp North and see architectonic beauties such as the designcenter “De Winkelhaak”, the SPAR supermarket and the `Eilandje' with the V.A.T. building, and the MAS museum. You will end the tour at “Villa Tinto”.

Description Neighbourhood
Ten years ago, Antwerp’s Northern district was a neighbourhood which was a notorious red light district. To ban the prostitution from this area, the council of Antwerp decided to gentrify this neighbourhood. For the renewal of Antwerp North several architects were asked to make a design for some important buildings, squares, and streets in area, for example the town library, the design center, the Astridplein, and the restoration and refitting of the Central Station. In the meantime private initiatives followed and the Northern distict changed completely.
