Like-a-local.com offers travellers the opportunity to experience the real life in the city using themes:

GO: Meet with the true connoisseurs of local life, the locals themselves

EAT: Taste the local cuisine at the home of a local or go out for a food experience with a local

Our site provides you the entire range of local activities. By using EAT! or GO! you can step into the daily life of a local and taste, see, and experience the local culture. You can create your own experience ranging from one single activity to a complete Like-a-local weekend.

How does it worK?

1. 1. You can search for a local activity in your city of destination directly from the home page. For instance, you are planning a weekend trip to Barcelona and you are looking for an activity to discover the city the local and fast way, then search for “cruising Barcelona”.

   2. When you have found the activity of your liking, click “book”.

   3. You will enter the booking form next and fill in the details about your travel date and also indicate a date of your preference to do the activity. (* mandatory fields)

   4. After you have filled in the form, it will be sent to the local responsible for the activity. He/she can then reply to your request.

   5. The local replies to your request:

- The local is available on the date of your reference
- The local proposes another date within the period of your stay

- The local is not available, you might look for another fun activity

- When a local does not respond within a week, the request expires

6. 6. It might be that the local will not reply instantly. Don’t worry; this activity is not always his/her day time job, they do it because of their passion and interest. They will respond in due time.

   7. After the local confirms the request, you will receive an email with the payment details.
8. 
   8. As soon as the payment has been confirmed, you will receive a voucher with all details about the activity and the meeting point. This voucher is also the proof of payment.

 

Who runs Like-a-local?

Like-a-local was started by three primary school friends:  Mandy, Marieke and Esther. The idea of Like-a-local was conceived during one of our city trips. After yet another "frustration" of eating between tourists and discovering the nice local restaurants only on the last day of our trip, we decided we needed locals to inform us on the best local places and attractions. Preferrably as early as possible in our trip
